The 155-bed hospital was designed to provide the most advanced care for children in a family-centered environment. Amenities for families include hotel like rooms for families who need to stay for longer periods of time with private bathrooms and showers along with kitchen and laundry facilities. All children who do not require care in intensive care units have their own private rooms with 42” flat screen TV’s, small refrigerators, and queen size sofa beds for their parents.  Each room has large windows so children can enjoy sunlight and an outdoor view. Lighting and room temperature can be individually controlled.

In addition, key resources have been carefully located to make the hospital more functional for children, families, physicians, and staff. The chapel is accessible from the lobby, but set back from mainstream traffic for peace and privacy.  Related clinical areas, such as cardiac intensive care unit and the operating rooms, are located next to each other to streamline patient care. 

There is a well-equipped outdoor playground, immediately accessible from the children’s playroom with separate areas for teens and younger children, and a library, Sculptures, interactive paintings and additional play areas on all patient floors.
