BROWN UNIVERSITY BOOKSTORE
LOCATION: Providence, RHODE ISLAND

Designer for extensive renovations and repositioning 25,000 sf campus bookstore. Brown University wanted to bring their timeworn bookstore into the modern era. New display and lighting concepts were developed to bring the bookstore into a modern retail environment. A new signage and graphic system and additional entries at the café gave a new street presence to the store. Pulling product displays back from the windows allowed a street view of the light and activity inside and created an entirely new dynamic with passing shoppers. The store is also equipped with a campus shop, café, kids’ area, a community meeting room, and multiple seating areas that recreate the bookstore experience and encourage interaction between the university community and residents.
